FROST DAMAGES BONNER COUNTY SPUDS

The severe freezing weather early last week damaged the county’s potato crop at least 35 per cent, says potato specialist H.F. Schedler. The frost has been the heaviest faced in this country in years at this season. If it had held off until the end of the month, the potato crop would have been so nearly matured, there would have been little or no damage.

LOCAL BRIEFS

Driving a pair of eight-year-old half-bred Durham oxen weighing 3400 pounds, G.W. Dingham and wife came to Sandpoint from their home in Rimrock, Idaho yesterday. The oxen were hitched to a covered Mitchell wagon and were driven with bit and bridle. Reminiscent of pioneer days, the outfit attracted much attention on the city streets.
