Marvin Gene Maberry, 91

Marvin Gene Maberry went to the loving arms of his Lord on Aug. 23, 2021, passing peacefully at home with his wife of 52 years at his side.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Rochelle “Shelly” H. Maberry; and eldest son, Lucas C. Maberry; and three grandchildren living in the Reno, Nev., area.

Marvin was born on Nov. 23, 1929, in Sterling, Illinois, to Maude and Arthur Maberry. Marv left school at 15 to enlist with the Merchant Marines, then later in 1946 he served proudly with the Berlin Expeditionary Forces in Berlin Germany. He was attached to the Office of the Military Governor and assigned to the Capital C.I.D. also the C.I.C. section.

Marvin retired from Sunstrand Corp. in 1970 where he was active in his local labor union #592-UAW. Marv was an officer of the chief steward the recording secretary as well as president of the 32,000 member UAW council in Rockford Ill., also vice president of the Illinois UAW PAC council in Washington, D.C.

Marvin married Rochelle H. Morris in April of 1969 in Hebron Illinois. Soon afterward, they moved from Illinois to Northern Idaho and ran several successful businesses as well as working as a licensed general contractor for many years in Washington state.

Having retired in 1993, he moved to Reno, Nev., and enjoyed many years of golf and good friends. Marvin is a member of the American Legion, the Elks and Moose He will be dearly missed.

Marvin is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Royce Maberry; both parents; his stepfather, Franck Baker; his half-brother, Gordon Finkle; his daughter, Sheila Lynn Maberry; and youngest child, John J. Patrick Maberry.

Marvin will be interned at the Fernley Military Cemetery at a later date. The service will be private.
