GEORGE YAW HOME BURNS

At about 1:30 o’clock Tuesday morning, the George Yaw home at 614 N. Ella burned to the ground. Mrs. Yaw was awakened by the sound of fire crackling and awakened her husband. The kitchen and dining room were in flames. One boy, Wilbur, who was sleeping upstairs, was in a semi-conscious condition and was carried down by his father. After getting his family in a place of safety, Mr. Yaw returned to the house, but managed to save only a few pieces of furniture. The fire department was unable to lend service because of the condition of the streets in that vicinity.

BUNGALOW – PACK RIVER NEWS

Our roads are fast settling. Wind and sun are drying up the mud rapidly.

A most delightful birthday surprise party in honor of Mrs. Albert Satterlee was given at her home on Gold creek Wednesday. Thirty-five neighbors and friends secretly gathered at her door and shouted “Surprise!” before Mrs. Satterlee was aware of their arrival. Each guest brought viands toward the making of a fine dinner which was served amid the best wishes of all for many happy returns of the day for the hostess.
