Boise Democrats win with Jim Woodward

| April 24, 2022 1:00 AM

Imagine the joy of those Idaho Senate Democrats when discovering they have a crucial vote from Bonner County without the distasteful effort of actually having to get a Democrat elected. That a man would campaign as a Republican, be handily elected by Republican voters, and then betray the electorate by siding with the liberals at every important turn, is simply too good to be true. But it is true.

Such a man they found in District 1 state Sen. Jim Woodward.

He proved his worth to Democrats with his decisive vote against overriding Brad Littleā€™s veto of the Emergency Powers Act. The override failed by a single vote, his, thus allowing "Little Inslee" to declare a state of emergency every month for two years despite the opposition of the Legislature.

Woodward believes he knows, far better than his former supporters, that they did not want a Republican and conservative in his position, but really intended to elect a Democrat all along.

So they got one. Let us take this opportunity, on behalf of Boise liberals, to thank Woodward for his successful duplicity. It takes a special sort of man to hoodwink so many.
