Idaho Hill students thank healthcare workers

Idaho Hill Elementary Student Council representatives recently surprised Newport Hospital and Health Services staff with a heartfelt thank you for the healthcare workers' dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Idaho Hill Elementary Student Council representatives recently surprised Newport Hospital and Health Services staff with a heartfelt thank you for the healthcare workers' dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The students presented hospital employees with handmade bookmarks, candy, and a poster.
"We know the pandemic was hard on you, and we wanted to thank everyone," Skeet Peloza, student council president, said.
Other council representatives who visited the healthcare included Carson, Brady, Gavin, Madison, Peyton, Loralei, Ryland, and Wyatt.
The students and Idaho Hill Elementary Principle, Susie Luckey, briefly visited three hospital departments and spoke to as many staff as were available. According to Luckey, every student in the school made at least one bookmark to for each of the 350 NHHS healthcare workers. NHHS staff responded to the gesture with gratitude and even a few tears, hospital staff said in a press release.
"It was wonderful to be recognized by a group of young children in a time where we are working harder than ever, sometimes caring for the sickest people some of us have ever seen," said Jennifer Johnston, RN, nurse manager of Acute Care/Emergency Room at Newport Community Hospital. "It meant the world to us … this really made our day."
Registered nurse Tami Bell was working in the Emergency Room and was visibly moved by the presentation of the bookmarks.
"[Newport Community Hospital] staff are the most compassionate and amazing people I've had the privilege to work with," Bell said. "It is a true blessing to be able to serve the community I grew up in. It was an honor to be recognized for our dedication to the continued care of our patients."
