Sasquatch 12U team wins Spring Dinger tourney

The Sandpoint Sasquatch 12U team won the inaugural Spring Dinger Tournament on Saturday, April 23 in Rathdrum.

In the title game, Sasquatch ran into an undefeated River City Thunder squad.

After giving up an early lead, Sasquatch erupted for seven runs in the top of the third inning and never looked back.

Sandpoint relied on timely hitting, defense, and pitching over the final three innings for a 14-6 victory.

The weekend was highlighted by strong pitching that included three shutouts along with a rock-solid defense, and an explosive offense that saw Sasquatch outscore opponents 51-12 over a five-game stretch.

Head coach Ricky Klontz was proud of his team’s performance.

“The weekend was important for our boys,” Sasquatch head coach Ricky Klontz said. “For the work they have put in, the results that come from executing across all phases of the game.”

“Every player contributed and supported each other 110 percent. We are so proud of them and excited to see how we can keep developing over the remainder of the season.”
