The Sandpoint girls basketball team couldn't overcome a rough start Friday night at Post Falls, trailing 19-10 after the first quarter and never recovering in a 65-55 loss to the Trojans.

Bulldog scoring leaders Aliya Strock got 8 of her 15 points in the first half and Kelsey Cessna racked up 9 of her 15 in the second.

“We need to clean some stuff up defensively,” head coach Will Love said. “But we managed to cause some turnovers and I know the girls will only get better as the season continues.”

Post Falls closed the deal with 20 points in the fourth quarter.

“We managed to get some really good looks, especially in the second half,” Love said. “We also had some really great bench play.”

The Bulldogs travel to Priest River today for a 2 p.m. contest.
