A nominee for the 'no bell' prize

| December 22, 2022 1:00 AM

For many years I have volunteered as a Salvation Army Bell Ringer at Yokes Market. The person, Glenna, who was responsible for scheduling the Salvation Army Bell Ringers at various locations around town, retired and a new person, Anita, now has this job. My first day was Dec. 9 starting at 9 a.m.

I went and got the Salvation Army sign stand and the red kettle at the Yoke's customer service counter as I have always done, however there was no bag with the bell, a vest plus other items. I did not have Anita's phone number, so I called Glenna, who called and someone brought me the bag with a bell within 20 minutes so I didn't have to stand there and say "ding ding ding" as people walked in the store. Here I was all dressed in my red sweats and Santa hat, ready to collect money from nice folks who put money in the red kettle and give out little candy canes to little kids and I didn't have a bell.

My daughter, Su Wreden, in California, said, I should receive the "no bell prize," Ho Ho Ho.
