SHS plays final game at Punahou Invite

| December 31, 2022 1:00 AM

The Bulldogs played their final game of four on Friday night against Iolani, losing another close one in a low-scoring affair, 36-33.

Rusty Lee hit 11 points, Emerik Jones scored eight and Evan Dickinson followed closely with seven. After four days of back-to-back games, Sandpoint hustled but it wasn't enough to keep Iolani from the win.

“For it being our fourth game in four days, I was really proud of our effort and how hard we competed,” head coach Brian Childs said.

The Bulldogs were able to finish out the first half with 15 points to Iolani’s 22.

“Even though we didn’t shoot the ball the way we would have liked, we gave ourselves a chance to win every game because of the way we competed,” Childs said.

Lee, Dickinson, Max Frank, and Arie VanDenBerg led the Bulldogs in scoring in the second half, garnering 18 points between them.

“It was a great experience on and off the floor for our kids,” Childs said. “And hopefully it benefits us the second half of the season.”

Sandpoint returns home on New Year's Eve and is scheduled to play Lakeland in Rathdrum on Friday, Jan. 6.
