Sandpoint athletics, has a busy Friday night with the girls basketball team, the boys team, and wrestling team all in action tonight. Here's a little preview for each matchup.

Sandpoint girls vs Lakeland Game 2:

Sandpoint looked impressive in Game 1 of the Class 4A District 1 championship against the Hawks, where they came out with the 48-37 victory.

However, these two teams are very familiar with each other and I expect Game 2 to go to the final buzzer.

But if the Sandpoint defense shuts down Addie Kiefer like it did in Game 1, it might be able to replicate the same success.

Sandpoint boys vs Lake City:

The Sandpoint boys won its first league game in five years with its win over Post Falls, and now have to face the number one ranked team in the 5A classification Lake City.

The Bulldogs lost to Coeur d’Alene 75-50 on Feb.5 but played extremely tough against the Vikings in the first quarter.

If Sandpoint combines momentum with the playing style that it had in its win against Post Falls the Bulldogs should hang in tough.

Sandpoint wrestling vs Moscow

While the basketball teams are ending droughts and competing for state bids, the wrestling team is quietly having some kids get ready for a district run.

This will be the regular season finale for the Bulldogs wrestling team against league opponent Moscow and it’ll be a good test for next week's district tournament.

Two of Sandpoint’s constants in its lineup, Shane Sherill and Calvin Hinds, will have a possible match of the night candidates.

At 138 Sherill, who’s had a string of victories lately, will face off against Moscow’s James Greene. Greene finished fourth at the Clearwater Classic in Lewiston on Jan. 22.

Also, at 170 Sandpoint’s Calvin Hinds will go against Owen McGreevy.
