Loss of public access at Camp Bay would be a tragedy

| February 15, 2022 1:00 AM

I drove down Sagle Road to Camp Bay to see what all the fuss was about. At the end of Camp Bay Road, I stopped my car and got out with my good dog, Mazie.

I nearly stopped breathing.

There, spread out across the lake were the snow-capped mountains, blue sky and those awesome clouds. Removing that piece of Camp Bay Road and beach from public access wouldn’t just be too bad. It would not be just sad. It would be a damn tragedy.

I had the privilege of meeting Fred and Jennifer Arn who, together, fought the brave fight for the rest of us.

There is, of course, a larger issue. How many of us have the means or the land that could be deeded, tax advantaged, to our land trusts? Probably a lot of us. We better do something great with our estates before we die trying to leave wealth to our heirs only to have the government rob them by grabbing a big percentage.
