NAMPA - Although the Sandpoint Cheer and Dance team didn’t place at the 2022 4A Idaho Cheer and Dance championships at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa on Saturday, Feb. 11, head coach Sara Garrison was very pleased with her team's performance.

“The girls did amazing,” Garrison said. “We had lots of fun and they held their heads high.”

There were 14 teams competing and Sandpoint had one of the smallest lineups in terms of depth.

The Bulldogs had 12 total athletes on its team going against competition with as many as 25 on their squad.

“They competed really well against the bigger teams,” Garrison said. “I’m very proud of them. They went through a lot of ups and downs this season.”

This spoke to the Bulldogs’ hard work and dedication throughout the season.

“They came in at 6 a.m. with smiles on their faces, ready to work,” Garrison said. “I’m so proud of their hard work over the last seven months.”

According to Garrison, Sandpoint’s best performance was the prop dance, saying it was “truly amazing.”

The Sandpoint cheer team will do an end of the season show where they will perform all their competition pieces and routines at 6 p.m. on March 26 at Sandpoint High School.
