Hitting the slopes: Carnival Classic and more

It was a busy couple of weeks on the slopes for our local athletes, here are some results.

Carnival Classic — On Feb. 6, Evan Brubaker and Sophie Brubaker both had top two finishes at the Carnival Classic in Whitefish, MT.

Evan Brubaker finished second in the 4K with a time of 14:22.

Sophie Brubaker finished third in the female edition of the 4K race with a time of 20:00;

Intermountain Division Junior National qualifier and Wyoming High School Nordic Race - This event took place in Jackson, Wyoming on Feb. 11-12 with Isabella Waters continuing her hot streak.

She finished first in the U14 female 1.3 classic sprint qualifier.

In the final sprint heat, she also finished first.

Waters added a third-place finish in the U14 female 2.5 K mass start skate race.

Callahan Waters finished seventh in the U16 male 1.3 classic sprint qualifier and advanced to the final heat, where he finished seventh.

He was also named to the Intermountain Division Junior National team and will compete with the Junior Nationals during the week of March 6 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Sacajawea Classic - Fletcher Barrett finished first in the U18 men at the Sacajawea Classic on Feb. 12 in Bozeman, MT with a time of 1 hour, and 33 min.

Lubrecht Race - Barrett also finished first in the 10K skate race at the Lubrecht Race in Greenough, MT, on Feb. 13 with a time of 29:50.64.

Evan Brubaker finished 17 in the same event with a time of 42:23.37.

Sophie Brubaker finished 27 for the females with a time of 47:57.54.

Starlight races - Week 2 of Schweitzer’s starlight races took place on Feb. 12, and here’s the results.

For the men, James Emmer took first place with a score of 14.12. Ben Porietis was second, scoring a 14.15, and Adam Tajan finished third with a 14.82.

Heather Johnson placed first among the females with a score of 14.16. Tracy Tuttle finished second with a 15.97 and Teresa Kemick finished third with a 16.00.

As for the teams, 5 guys racing finished first with a score of 46.67.
