PR and Sandpoint's female grapplers take on districts

COEUR d’ALENE — Priest River and Sandpoint’s female grapplers competed in the first ever sanctioned wrestling district tournament in Idaho on Friday at Coeur d’Alene High School.

Sandpoint placed eighth as a team with 39 points and Priest River finished tied for 12 with 13 points.

For Sandpoint, sophomore Rylie Hancock took first at 132 pounds.

She pinned Highland’s Keira White in 3:32.

120-pounder Emma Garman went 0-2 at the tournament.

Auria Palmer also went two-and-out at 145.

For Priest River, it had two girls compete, Kailee Davis at 106 and Helena White at 145.

Davis, who had a tough regular season at 2-23, took third.

She got tech falled against Moscow’s Kiera Zimmerman in the opening round of the tournament and defeated Potlatch’s Marlo Kampster 9-7 in the third and fourth place matches.

White finished fourth after losing in her consolation finals match to Gena Kelsey of Bonners Ferry.
