Virtual “local food sources” class set

| July 6, 2022 1:00 AM

The WSU Master Gardeners are offering a Zoom class on “Local Food Sources” on Thursday, July 14.

The class will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

All those interested are invited to join the group to to hear from several community farmers who will share information on the value of local foods. One farmer had a dream of “growing fields of flavor,” which manifested as a diverse farm with fields of rare grains, vegetables and foraging chickens. They also offer delicious eggs, stone-milled flour and much more. Another farmer’s ranch is home to grass-fed beef, and pastured pork and poultry. Their hogs, chickens and turkeys free-range on their horse and cattle pastures. You can also find timothy and alfalfa hay there.

Having additional access to local fresh foods and vegetables provides a diet packed with needed vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. The class fee is $5, ($3 for MGs), and can be paid by check, money order, or through PayPal.

Anyone with a computer or smart phone and Internet access will be able to attend this virtual Zoom class by calling or emailing the program coordinator, Beverly Sarles, to register. Those that are registered will receive an email, a day before the class, with the Zoom link and instructions on how to access the presentation. The Zoom class will be interactive so participants will be able to make comments and ask questions. Even if participants do not have a camera and microphone on their computers, they can view the class and ask questions by typing them into a chat box.
