CLARK FORK — A Bonner County couple is facing multiple burglary charges following their arrest after a standoff last Wednesday.

Jacob McKeever, 33, and Joanna Holderman, 26, both of Clark Fork, have been charged with multiple counts of burglary, according to a post on the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

The standoff began after BCSO deputies arrived at a residence in the 800 block of Spring Lane in Clark Fork at about 4 p.m. to arrest Holderman on an aggravated battery arrest warrant out of Kootenai County as well as McKeever on a burglary charge.

Shortly after the standoff, sheriff’s officials said the two had barricaded themselves inside the residence and were believed to be armed.

The Bonner County Emergency Response Team responded to the scene and, after negotiations failed, “less lethal gas munitions” were used to extricate the pair from the residence.

Bonner County Sheriff Darryl Wheeler said in a June 25 Facebook post that detectives had “located stolen property belonging to at least eight different victims, worth several thousands of dollars” following a search of the property last Thursday.

The arrests come following a spike in reports of burglaries in the Clark Fork area beginning in mid-May, Wheeler said in the post.

“Deputies had arrested Holderman for her involvement in a burglary at the Vay Store on June 3, 2022; however, she was released on a $2,500 bond,” Wheeler said.

Probable cause was developed to also arrest Brandon Buck, 33, in the burglary of the store. However, Wheeler said evidence was discovered indicating Buck could not have been involved in that robbery and the charge was dismissed. However, Buck remains in custody on other, unrelated charges, Wheeler said.

The sheriff thanked the community for their assistance in the case.

“We appreciate the many people in our community who came forward to provide information to assist us in locating [and] arresting McKeever [and] Holderman for their recent crime spree,” Wheeler said.

The sheriff’s office is hoping anyone that has been the victim of a recent burglary or theft that has not reported it, does so.

“We also believe there are many victims of burglary or theft who have not reported the incidents to us,” Wheeler said. “If you have been a recent victim of theft or burglary & have not reported the incident, we encourage you to call our dispatch at 208-265-5525 to make a report.”
