Schools in the West Bonner County School District were closed on Tuesday, March 5, as 67 of 90 local teachers traveled to Boise to protest cuts in education on the steps of the Idaho Statehouse, according to Superintendent Joe Malleta.

Kondo’s store hit
More than $55,000 in damages was sustained by Kondo’s Department Store early Sunday Morning when it was vandalized and robbed, Bonner County Sheriff’s deputies reported. Merchandise in the clothing store was spray-painted. An estimated $800-worth of merchandise was taken.

Remodeled church dedicated
A capacity crowd attended the dedication services at the Community Congregation church Sunday. The newly remodeled and redecorated sanctuary was attractive in a color scheme of green, ivory and maroon. Dedication service and sermon were given by Rev. Donald Mills.

Against wholesale killing
Deputy Game Warden Robertson and Bennett of Sandpoint were called to Blanchard on a complaint that Oscar Ragstad had been shooting deer out of season. He was taken before a justice of the peace where he was given a 60-day suspended sentence. The Blanchard community was not concerned about the killing of one or two deer out of season, but they believed that a halt should be called to wholesale killing.

R.A. Sheriff finished his gypo job at old Camp 4 for Humbird Lumber Company. He has taken out about 480,000 this winter, and has employed six or seven men for several weeks.
