Sharks place seventh at Junior Championships

MOSES LAKE — The Sandpoint Sharks placed seventh at the Junior Championships event on Feb.25-26 at Moses Lake High School.

The Sharks had a total of 10 first-placers with all racers achieving a personal best time.

“This is a huge accomplishment for the Sharks,” Sharks coach Sara Zwink said. “Our team as a whole is significantly smaller than all of our competitors in Inland Empire League Swimming.”

Lou Frost was awarded the Individual High Point Award for the 11-12 boys and Terra Converse was awarded Teammate of the Week.

McCoy Jensen placed first, second, and third in the three events he participated in.

Placing first in the 50 free, second in the 100 breast and third in the 100 back.

Myelle Jensen ended the meet with five first place finishes, placing first in the 200 individual medley, 200 free, 100 fly, 50 breast, and 100 back.

Its next event will be the Junior Olympics on March 4-6 at the University of Idaho.
