Lola Jean (Flesher) Nelson

Lola Jean (Flesher) Nelson, born February 28, 1927, deceased on January 21, 2022.

Our dear sweet, amazing special Lola went to rest with Jesus and her beloved husband, Chuck, after almost 95 beautiful years of happy and loving wonderful life. Lola was preceded in death by her middle son, Chris, and leaves Ron and Chuck in temporal corporeality. She is also survived by granddaughter, Tessa and daughters-in-law Diana, Kathleen and Barbara.

Lola is a kind soul who never spoke ill of anyone in person or gossip; she always loved, helped, and supported all who traversed her path in life, especially her husband and three sons. No one who knows Lola ever suspected her motives or honesty, and her personal charity was forever self-evident.

Central to Lola's faith and social life is her lifelong involvement in the Methodist and Episcopal churches, most recently Holy Spirit (formerly Saint Agnes) church of Sandpoint, Idaho. With the Reverend Chuck, Lola actively ministered with communicants from the East USA to the Inland Empire. This provided many social opportunities for Lola to get to know people, especially active Episcopalians, from Lewiston to Canada and the East Cascades to the mountains of Montana. She actively studied Cursillo and was ordained to handle the chalice.

The perennial and quintessential rector's wife, one thing that kept her active was interacting with fellow parishioners in every capacity possible. These things were important and even central to her cognitive life of involvement with others. Both Father Chuck and Lola regularly communicated by mail with lifelong friends from New Jersey and beyond; in many special cases this was maintained to the end for them both.

Lola never suffered nor did she cause suffering but, rather like her Lord, always sought to bring aid and comfort to anyone in need of support. An example for all, her absence for those who know and love her brings an unlikely mixture of happiness, solace and grief felt in the emptiness of her physical absence.

The more you know and have lived with her, the more pain you come to know without her and the more pleasure you derive from the experience, aid, and enlightenment of her engaging, ongoing presence. She involved herself in everyone's life. She was forever interested in all that human life has to offer. Literature, the arts, human craft and love of others are all constantly flowing in her heart and life. She lived to be involved. Lola forever embodies compassion and wisdom in her ways; humble yet valedictorian. She sewed, baked, gardened, spoke, sang, listened, prayed and loved to laugh. This Florida gem also loved to shovel snow.

We are profoundly happy for her having completed life so triumphantly. A wise soul says that death is but a change of circumstances, like moving homes. And a wise person sees to it that the new home is better and nicer than the old one. Lola's new home is spectacular.

We are heartbroken, but you are at peace and fully in the joy of our Lord Jesus.
