MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA — Callahan Waters put it together at the Junior Nationals even in Minneapolis, Minnesota while representing the Sandpoint Nordic Club.

He was the lone member of the Sandpoint Nordic Club competing at the event.

Waters was competing in Minnesota from Monday March 7, until Saturday, March 12.

Waters wrapped up his run at the event on Saturday, March 12, with mixed relays.

His team finished sixth out of the 37 U16 teams, just missing the podium.

Waters’ sixth place finish capped off a five day stretch in Minneapolis where he had a great showing.

Three top 30 finishes along with a 12-place finish in the 5K skate, which was his best individual event during Junior Nationals.

His sixth place finish in the team relays was his best overall finish during the event.

Waters said that the Junior Nationals event was a “blast”. He’s already planning on how to get to the event next year.

The Sandpoint Nordic Race Team will take a break for several weeks and start dryland cross-training in May.

Dryland training for the racers typically includes hiking, mountain biking, running, strength training, and roller skating.

This training will get the club in top shape for the next winter racing season.
