Anita Rose Schoonover, 88

Anita Rose Schoonover, 88, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, in Walla Walla, Washington. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the First Lutheran Church in Sandpoint.

Nita was born on December 26, 1933, in Minot, North Dakota, to Joseph and Ruth Beauchamp. She grew up and attended schools in Sandpoint, and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1952.

Anita married Chuck Schoonover on February 14, 1954, in Sandpoint. She worked as school secretary at Farmin Elementary. She also worked for Anheuser Bush in Boulder, Colorado, Morrison Knudson in Satsop, Washington, and Alaska Pipeline modules in Astoria, Oregon.

Anita was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Eastern Star, Selle Extension Club, and two pinochle groups, and was avid spectator and supporter of Sandpoint Bulldog athletics. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and baking.

She is survived by one son, Chuck Schoonover of Sandpoint; one daughter, Christy Schoonover of Sandpoint; one granddaughter, Lindsey Ann Schoonover (Terry Brinton) of Sandpoint; two sisters, Frances Crandell and Janet Duncan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Andrew and Anna Sjaastad; grandson, Charlie Schoonover; and husband Chuck Schoonover.
