CLARKSTON - Sandpoint tennis coach Kent Anderson labeled his team’s fifth place finish at the Clarkston tournament on Saturday “shocking” as the Bulldogs took home several medals.

"I don't think I've ever coached a tournament where we've brought home so many medals," Anderson said. "It was really promising, especially against all these big schools."

Maile Evans and Patch Howard took first at number two singles. Oliva Petruso and Denali Terry were runners-up in the number one girls singles.

Jacob Dawson and Tyler Korn got redemption from its two extra sets losses on Friday and won the consolation bracket, resulting in a third place finish.

Maise Brazill was the runner-up at number two singles for the girls, losing her first match of the season in the championship round.

Sandpoint's number one singles player Neva Reseska lost in the opening round of the tournament in extra sets.

"My friend that watched the match said it was one of the best matches they've ever seen," Anderson said. "The Kennewick girl was really good and the match was super competitive."

Sandpoint will face off against Lake City on Monday, March 21.
