McLain receives three medals at Bonners Ferry Invite

The Priest River track team finished fifth at the Bonners Ferry Invite on Saturday, March 26.

“It was great to get more of the team competing,” Priest River track coach Jared Hughs said. “Our kids exhibited great work ethic and leadership.”

Matyus McLain led the pack with four medals, three silvers, and one bronze.

He finished second in discus, second in shot put, and third in the 100 meter race.

Erik Deem finished third in pole vault.

Deem also contributed to the second place efforts of Priest River’s 4x100 meter relay team.

Travis Matthews also had a solid day for the boys with a fifth place finish in the 200, a second place finish in the 400, and was a part of the Spartans’ second place 4x200 meter relay team.

Haddassah Davis and Allyson Barton highlighted the girls team.

Barton finished third in the 200, and seventh in the 100.

Davis ended up with a sixth place finish in the 100 and a fifth place finish in the 300 meter hurdles.

Next up for Priest River is a small school invite at Deer Park on Friday, April 1.
