Woodward is a true Idahoan with our values

Political extremism is commonplace in the national and local news these days. We are exposed to volatile name calling and finger pointing from many directions. It can be difficult to tell who is telling the truth, and who is making it up.

Before the internet and smartphones, the majority of our news came from local newspapers, radio and television.

Doctors, nurses, judges, teachers and most politicians were treated with respect unless they had been found guilty of something unspeakable. Although nowadays it seems we are quick to judge before hearing the facts.

There was a time we could have a political conversation without it becoming toxic and treating each other like the enemy. Common ground could be found, and ideas given were not only listened to without interruption, but actually considered.

It doesn't seem like people have the patience to work out disagreements in a calm, orderly fashion as they once did.

Being a registered voter in Bonner County since 1974, and having voted in every election available to me since then, I've seen many candidates come and go, and there were several who worked hard for the citizens of Idaho — Jim Stoicheff, Shawn Keough and Joyce Broadsword to name a few.

Jim Woodward falls into this category as well. His background in the military, business and having graduated from high school and college in Idaho give him a view that's close to home.

A true Idahoan with our values. That's why I will be voting for Jim in this year's primary.
