It seems like just yesterday that spring sports had just started.

With all the bumps in the road from weather delays and spring break, it really started to feel like it had just started to find its footing.

But alas, we’re only one week away from districts and postseason play.

For most teams in the area, it will end their season going against a team in their respective league.

For the local track teams, they’ll be competing at Post Falls High School in the District I Tournament of Champions on Thursday.

This event will include teams from District I and athletes will have already qualified for the meet.

To have qualified for this meet, athletes would have had to place in the top-16 out of all District I teams during an event regardless of classification size.

The Sandpoint baseball team will wrap up its season with doubleheaders against Moscow and Lakeland.

The Bulldogs snapped an eight-game losing streak the last time they faced off against the Bears on April 26, with a sweep victory.

Sandpoint’s baseball team has been improving on the field and, according to Tigert, mentally, since its Lewiston game on April 23, the Bulldogs are 3-4.

These next four games have huge district seeding implications for Sandpoint. Currently, the Bulldogs are in second place in the 4A Inland Empire League. If Sandpoint manages to steal a couple of victories against Lakeland and Moscow to end the season, it could automatically advance to the District I championship game.

The Sandpoint golf team will also wrap up its regular season at the Lakeland Invitational at the Links Golf Course on Friday.

The Bulldogs have been neck and neck with the rest of the 4A Inland Empire League all season long.

Moscow and Lakeland will both be at the Invitational and will give Sandpoint one final look at where it matches up with its league before the district I meet takes place on Monday, April 9 at the University of Idaho Golf Course at 9 a.m.

The Sandpoint tennis team, which has been on a roll all season long, will cap off its regular season against Lakeland on Wednesday at home at 3:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs are currently undefeated in duals against the 4A Inland Empire League and the last time they faced off against the Hawks, they came out with the 10-2 victory.
