Omodt brings civil and collaborative common sense

| May 7, 2022 1:00 AM

In the style of the classic 1987 movie Good Morning Vietnam, it’s time for our own wakeup call: "Good Morning, Bonner County!"

The 2022 primary election is undoubtedly one of the most critical we have ever had in my 60 years of voting here. Candidates abound. We have candidates who appeal to your fears, founded or unfounded. Candidates whose idea of building themselves up is to tear opponents down – even resorting to vicious untruths. Candidates who claim experience and/or education but aren’t forthcoming with any details.

It’s time to listen carefully, watch, read, study, learn before you cast your votes. Don’t let yourself be fooled by people who have been busy reinventing themselves since they arrived and are working diligently to convince you that they have all of the answers.

Our local issues will be resolved with people like Luke Omodt at the helm. Luke is articulate and his intelligence is evident in every conversation with him. He is a good listener. He will bring civil and collaborative common sense to the table. Now more than ever, we need Luke at the local level to find reasonable and acceptable ways to navigate these difficult times.
