Omodt is best pick for county commissioner

| May 10, 2022 1:00 AM

My great-great-grandparents platted the city of Sandpoint in the late 1890s. Each generation of our family has lived through changes here, some more significant than others. I have watched Bonner County change from a natural resources economy to the current tourism-based culture.

As a local pilot and flight instructor, these changes become more evident every year as I fly over the lake, the rivers and the mountains.

Areas where we once thought it would never be possible to build a house are now dotted with homes. For decades we thought the population of Sandpoint might always be 4,000.

But living in such a beautiful place we always knew growth was inevitable. Now it is a matter of finding a balance for that growth in a way that allows us to enjoy the quality of life we have come to enjoy while honoring the rights of property owners.

Luke Omodt has pledged to initiate a process that will engage our citizens in developing a strong comprehensive plan that will give us confidence in how growth can be managed.

I'm voting for Luke Omodt for county commissioner and I hope you will, too.
