The Clark Fork tennis duo of Emily Meyers and Jamie Herrick had their season come to an end at the North Star League district tennis tournament on Friday at Lewiston High School.

Meyers and Herrick entered the meet as a doubles pairing and went two-and-out with back-to-back losses to Coeur d’Alene Charter.

The freshman duo went up against Lydia Lehoist and Isabelle Desoto in the first round.

They showed signs of improvement by taking two games in the first set and three in the second set.

They ultimately fell to the duo from Coeur d’Alene Charter, however, 6-2, 6-3.

In their second match, they seemed to run out of gas.

They fell to Taylor Peterson and Raeanna Kendra in the consolation round 8-1.

The tennis season is over for the Wampus Cats following Meyers and Herrick’s exit. The freshman gained a lot of experience throughout the season during their limited time on the court.

Clark Fork tennis coach Jeff Emmer remained optimistic about the pairing despite the quick exit.

“This was a really good first season for them,” Emmer said. “I think next year they’ll be a contender for state.”
