Cashier Sanders has a box of cigars for the first player who hits the side of the mill with a batted ball.

CITY BREVITIES

Leland Johnson, sales manager for the City garage, has returned from a week’s trip to the Coast. He went by train to Seattle, secured a Dodge car for the garage and drove home. Because Snoqualmie pass was blocked with snow at the time, he made the trip back by way of Portland and the Columbia river highway.

About 50 high school students and faculty members made a lake excursion to Midas Sunday, going on the steamer Northern on its first summer excursion trip, leaving at 2 p.m. and returning at 8 p.m. There were 34 of the party present at the Sunday chicken dinner at Mrs. Jennie Bullis’ summer resort, the others picnicking on the lake shore around Garfield bay.

The City garage this week installed its second “clear vision” gasoline filling station, a machine with a 15-gallon capacity glass tank. The station was placed on the Fourth avenue side of the garage, the other, a 10-gallon size station, being placed on Cedar street.
