Dr. George Robin Beck has opened Sandpoint Pediatrics in the Masonic building, in quarters formerly housing the late Dr. T.E. Alm. GAYLA CHRONIC BREAKS RECORD

SHS senior Gayla Chronic proved once again that records are made to be broken. As assistant to Mrs. Pat Smith, girls’ physical education instructor, Gayla participated in the fall fitness tests given to all P.E. students and was the only one to set a new record, by adding another inch to the standing broad jump mark previously set by senior Helen Walkley. The SHS standard in the event is now 7’ 9”. All girls still in P.E. classes in the spring will take the test again to determine any improvements made, so Gayla will have a chance to improve on her new record.

Oct. 4, 1922 – TRAMPS NUMEROUS

Tramps are as numerous now as they ever were this time of year, according to Police Chief Bratton. The average number the city lodges nightly is six. One night last week there were 11. But lodging is all these knights of the road get out of Sandpoint, the Chief absolutely refusing to feed any. He says sometimes they make an awful fuss because they are not fed, but in view of the fact that there is plenty of work for those willing, he sees no reason the city should go to any expense for them. When weather gets cold, applicants for lodging at the city jail will probably greatly increase.

SOCIAL AFFAIRS

One hundred and fifty high school students attended the Frosh initiation party in the school gymnasium given by the three upper classes. After games, the job of initiating the Freshies began. Some were willing victims but others were not so willing and a great deal of fun and laughter marked the affair. At the evening’s end, the party marched downstairs and were fed ice cream, cake and sandwiches.
