Verla Lorena Jones, 95

Verla Lorena Jones, 95, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, in Athol, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at the New Song Bible Church in Sagle, Idaho.

Verla was born March 4, 1927, in Greenwood, Wis., to Skyles and Alma Carruthers. She grew up and attended schools in Colby, Wis. She married Victor Jones in Colorado Springs, Colo. He died and she married George Jones in Alliance, Neb. They made their home in Darby, Mont., until he died in 1971. Later Verla moved to Billings, Mont., and then moved to Athol, Idaho, in 1980.

Verla was a member of several churches throughout the years. She served the Lord by teaching Sunday school, cleaning the church and singing in the choir. She helped with Cub Scouts, 4-H, gardening club, sewing, art, music, teacher to the deaf Bible studies, quilting, sewing, baking and music. She loved her animals but enjoyed her dogs, birds and riding horses the most. She was loved greatly and will be missed even more and we are looking forward to the day that we all can be together in eternity.

She is survived by two daughters, Janie (George) Cuff of Darby, Mont., and Jeannie Jensen of Athol; one son, Donald (Barb) Jones of Sagle; 16 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Helen Baker and Milly (Johnny) Murphy of Tucson, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Victor and George Jones; sister Dorothy Lewis; a baby brother; grandson Shannon King; daughter Susan Dorothy; and son Larry Edward, sons-in-law, Sigard Jensen and David King, and eight brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law.
