Want to support the Constitution? Vote for Johnson

| October 25, 2022 1:00 AM

It always amusing when Scott Herndon, the Republican candidate for state senator, is noted for supporting the U.S. Constitution.

On the contrary, Herndon wants to secede from the federal government and create his own dystopian society. He wants to refuse all federal money which helps veterans and senior citizens as well as health and welfare for the general population of Idaho. He wants to further dehumanize women by making abortion and the right to choose a felonious murder for providers and women alike. He wants to sell public and federal land to developers, close libraries, ban books, and disband public education. All of these goals are simply to make Herndon himself the seat of power; he has no agenda to adhere to the Constitution or work with the federal government, except the right to open carry of guns. And he certainly will not best represent the best views and interests of Idaho.

Candidate Steve Johnson, on the other hand, understands the Constitution and government. He has lived in Idaho and Bonner County most of his life (while his opponent is a newcomer); he is an educator and understands the value of public education. He served on the Bonner County Library Board and the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce. He is a farmer and understands the value of rural Idaho and will work to sustain our forests and federal land. He will work to reduce property taxes and raise the exemption to be in line with current home values. He will work to preserve the rights of women to control their own bodies, not sponsor frivolous bills making women’s rights “murder.”

Please get out and vote for write-in candidate Steve Johnson for State Senate, Legislative District 1. Simply fill in the box (or oval) below Herndon’s name and write in the name: Steve Johnson.
