Denney: Report election misinformation

Idaho Secretary of State Lawerence Denney said Friday he launched a new web portal so Idahoans can report election-based misinformation they find on social media.

The site encourages Idaho voters to be aware of election misinformation, and to report anything on social media that appears inaccurate or misleading, such as election dates and polling place hours.

Denney said once "misinformation" has been reported, their cyber security team will evaluate it.

He said in a statement that if it is determined that the social media post is "trying to disenfranchise voters and undermine our democracy," a report will be passed to the Election Infrastructure Information Sharing and Analysis Center, which will check it out and, if necessary, forward it to the Department of Homeland Security.
