COUNCIL DEFERS CHOICE OF NEW MAYOR

The Sandpoint City Council on Monday deferred until Friday its selection of a new mayor to succeed the late Mayor Floyd L. Gray who died Aug. 21. The council voted to consider only those who have served on the council in the past or are council members. During the meeting it developed that, with the exception of Brown, none of the present council members feel they could take on the additional responsibility of serving as mayor until the next city election in the fall of 1973. Brown also attempted to bow out of the consideration, stating “I don’t feel that I am the right man for the job.”
