Master Gardeners set root cellaring class

| September 1, 2022 1:00 AM

The WSU Master Gardeners are offering a Zoom class on “root cellaring,” on Thursday, Sept. 8. The two-hour will start at 6:30 p.m.

The class will be taught by Master Gardener Kamori Cattadoris. In this class, participants will learn in root cellaring you can use this natural storage approach as a way of using the earth’s naturally cool, stable temperature to store perishable fruits and vegetables. Root cellaring is a simple, low-technology, energy-saving way to keep your harvest fresh all year long. Participants also will learn how to choose vegetable and fruit varieties that will store the best. The class fee is $5, ($3 for MGs), and can be paid by check or money order, or through PayPal.

Anyone with a computer or smart phone and internet access will be able to attend this virtual Zoom class by calling or emailing program coordinator Beverly Sarles to register. Those that are registered will receive an email, a day before the class, with the Zoom link and instructions on how to access the presentation. The Zoom class will be interactive so participants will be able to make comments and ask questions. Even if participants do not have a camera and microphone on their computers, they can view the class and ask questions by typing them into a chat box. In order to register for the class, so you can receive the Zoom link and know how to submit the class fee, please contact Beverly Sarles, M-F, 8-4:30 p.m., at 509-447-2401 or email anytime at: beverly.sarles@wsu.edu.
