| September 1, 2022 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — It’s a new semester in a new home for North Idaho College students at the college’s outreach center in Sandpoint.

NIC at Sandpoint will host a Day of Welcome for students and community members from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at the new location at 515 Pine St. in Sandpoint. The event is open to the public.

The event will include a meet-and-greet with NIC administrators, staff and faculty from both NIC at Sandpoint and NIC’s main campus in Coeur d’Alene. Free snacks, drinks and swag will also be available.

NIC has offered services in the Sandpoint area for more than 20 years. The Bonner County outreach center moved Sandpoint 10 years ago and consolidated into the Pine Street Annex in July. Students, faculty and staff are now together under one roof.

NIC at Sandpoint Regional Outreach Center Manager Christine Callison said the fall 2022 semester is off to a good start.

“The new layout allows us to provide better service to all of our campus visitors,” Callison said. “Even in the first few weeks of classes, we are seeing a lot of engagement with students.”

NIC at Sandpoint’s new location includes two upgraded lecture classrooms with Zoom technology and an additional dedicated classroom for Adult Education and GED preparation. The campus also houses advising and faculty offices, as well as science, health professions and computer labs.

Services offered at NIC at Sandpoint include application assistance, advising and registration help, financial aid and scholarship information, resource referral and tutoring. Test proctoring is available for NIC, Idaho public colleges and universities, GED, Workforce Training certifications and ATI Nursing Education.

Students in Bonner County and Boundary County can enroll in NIC programs and complete coursework at the Sandpoint campus. Credit classes offered locally include biology, English composition, oral communication, college algebra, psychology and many others.
