Are you a teen looking for a place to escape the midsummer sun? Maybe you’re a parent reading this and would like a calm, safe environment for your teenager.

This spring, the library did a full overhaul of the teen lounge to make it more comfortable and offer a wider range of activities for teens from ages 12 to 18.

The teen lounge offers more than video games and charging ports for phones. The lounge is a great place to pick up a sketchpad and channel an artistic vision. It also functions as a workshop with a 3D printer, a Cricut and an electronics repair kit. There are also new board games including Harry Potter Clue and Exploding Kittens.

Every Friday, library staff offer guided activities like writing clubs, art groups or tabletop role-playing game gatherings. Looking to make a new character for D&D? We’ve got the core books and the essentials kit, and our staff can even print out a character sheet for you. The Teen Lounge offers the perfect place for you to channel your inner Matt Mercer and enjoy some air conditioning at the same time.

The lounge is open weekdays from 3-5 p.m. Don’t forget to explore virtual reality in the VR Lab on Thursdays from 3-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 1-3 p.m.
