MOSCOW — The Sandpoint High Bulldogs came in second overall at their first swim meet Sept. 10 at the University of Idaho.

The boys tied for first in their division and the girls came in third.

“I'm beyond pleased with the performances from yesterday's meet,” coach Greg Jackson said to his team.

On the boys’ side, senior and captain Caleb Norling won the 100-yard and the 200-yard freestyle, both by over five seconds, and helped the boys team get second in both the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Junior McCoy Jensen also assisted on the above relay teams, as well as placing second in the 200-yard individual medley and second in the 100-yard backstroke.

On the girls team, sophomore Ava de Leeuw got third in the 200-yard freestyle and second in the 500-yard freestyle. She also helped the team get third in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Coach Jackson said she needed to kick her feet, and apparently she did.

Boys top three team scores:

1 Sandpoint High 107

1 Lakeland 107

3 Moscow 87

Girls top three team scores:

1 Lake City 234

2 Coeur d Alene 115

3 Sandpoint 100

Jackson said the athletes outdid his expectations across the board. “It is going to be a very exciting season.”
