PREP GOLF: Sandpoint starts off season strong; Tuinstra, Dignan, Weisz set new personal bests

Sandpoint's Alexa Tuinstra shot a new personal best of 75 to earn medalist honors in a season-opening six team match at MeadowWood Golf Course on Tuesday.

Taylor Mire also impressed finishing just one stroke behind Tuinstra with a 76. Sadie Dignan got a chance to play in Sandpoint's five-player rotation and shot a new personal best of 116.

The girls won the overall team title with a score of 338, well ahead of Coeur d'Alene.

On the boys side, Logan Roos led the way with a score of 89 at the Liberty Lake Golf Course. Not far behind him was Tyler Weisz who shot a 93 and Micah Young who shot a 95. All five SHS boys golfers who competed were sophomores.

Coeur d’Alene won the boys team title with a score of 295.

Head coach Mike Deprez said he was very pleased with his teams' opening performances.

"The courses were difficult, and the heat made things tough, but I could not be happier with today's results," Deprez said.

The Bulldogs will be back in action today in Lewiston at the Bryden Canyon Golf Course.
