Vote for recall is vital for community

| August 25, 2023 1:00 AM

Tuesday, Aug. 29, will be one of the most significant elections we have had in our county. Actually, its result could have an impact on small towns not only in Idaho but across the country.

Abstaining from this vote is not an option. It is vital that we do not allow politicians to steamroll our small communities. It is imperative that this community shows up Tuesday and firmly shows these people that we do not stand for lies, manipulation and authoritarian practices.

Personal politics do not belong in public schools. Ever.

Our students deserve leadership that supports their teachers and their families. Our students deserve a school board that sees more than test scores and wants to provide the best educational experience. Our students deserve a special education director who is on site.

Since his hire, Branden Durst hasn't communicated with his staff, his parents, etc. He and his hiring board have been caught in a list of wrongdoings such as lying about background checks, not providing teachers with contracts, payroll mishaps and strange hiring practices. They even missed the deadline to get our buses ready for the school year.

When asked for clarity and transparency, the community has time and time again been met with "the blame game" and no solutions. I'm tired of hearing about the "last staff." I want to know the plan.

School starts in 10 days; I don't think this board majority is changing their tune.

Please vote for the recall of Susan and Keith.
