SANDPOINT — Sandpoint seniors Aliya Strock and Karlie Banks combined for 42 points in a 65-9 win over West Valley at Les Rogers Court on Friday.

The Bulldogs could not be stopped. After the first quarter, Sandpoint led 23-0, eventually taking a 30-point lead into halftime. It was much of the same in the second half, as Sandpoint dominated on every front in the 56-point win over the Eagles of Spokane.

Banks had 22 points, nine rebounds, and seven steals in the contest. Strock added 20 points, six steals, and three assists. Freshmen Brecken Mire and Jordyn Tomco each had nine points; Tomco also tied for a team-high nine rebounds off the bench.

The Bulldogs outrebounded West Valley 35-17 and forced 20 steals on the night.

“I thought that we came out really strong,” head coach Will Love said. “We missed a lot of shots at the beginning, but defensively we were able to turn West Valley over quite a bit and did a good job on the offensive boards tonight.”

Overall, Love said the Bulldogs (2-0) did an excellent job of executing the game plan and hope to do much of the same on Saturday when they’ll hit the road to face East Valley.

“It’s going to be a big game for us since it will be our last tune-up before a big league game against Coeur d’Alene,” Love said. “We’re going to have to improve/clean up some of the things that happened tonight and it should get us ready for the gauntlet we're about to face that is the 5A IEL.”

CLARK FORK — Nine different Lady Cats scored as Clark Fork cruised to a commanding 51-19 win over Troy (Mont.) at Clark Fork High School on Friday.

“We needed this one,” head coach Jordan Adams said. “The girls found their energy much sooner than they have in the last couple of games. We've also made some adjustments in practice that are helping our game. We got the chance to play all of our JV girls which is fantastic because they don't have a game for a minute. The entire team had fun, was very supportive of each other, and did their jobs.”

Senior Lilly Reuter scored another season-high 11 points to lead Clark Fork on the night. Seniors Amari Printz Hay (8) and Eloise Shelton (7) combined for 15 points. The Wampus Cats had 19 bench points on the night.

Clark Fork (1-3) will look to get revenge on Tuesday when they host Genesis Prep.

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint boys showed some greatness at times, but fell 76-43 to the visiting West Valley Eagles at Les Rogers Court on Friday.

The Eagles started off the game strong, leading 23-9 after the first quarter. Before halftime, the Bulldogs found themselves trailing by 23, but cut the deficit to 17 after a three-point play from sophomore Logan Roos (assisted by Wil Leisy) and a buzzer-beater three-pointer from senior Parker Childs.

Childs, who knocked down a three-pointer to start the second half as well, finished with a team-high 17 points and drained four three’s on the night. Sandpoint pulled back to within 16 points at one point, but eventually West Valley took control and captured the 76-43 victory.

In addition to Childs’ 17 points, Emerik Jones and Roos had eight points each for the Bulldogs; Jones also had three assists and tied for a team-high four rebounds on the night.

Sandpoint (0-1) heads to East Valley today for another out-of-conference matchup.
