KELLOGG – Sandpoint’s Andrew Duke (126), Shane Sherrill (138), and Jorden Tyler (195) all took home gold in their respective weight classes at the George Wild Invite to lead Sandpoint to a second place finish out of 18 teams on Saturday.

Duke pinned Rook Smith of Flathead (0:16), Jaxon Green of Clearwater Valley (1:50), and defeated Chase Scribner via a major decision (10-1) in order to qualify for the championship match where he pinned Blake Lancaster of Eureka (4:32). Lancaster was 7-0 on the season heading into the championship before being defeated by Duke.

Sherrill pinned Daniel Williams of Flathead (2:00), defeated Landon Tweedy via major decision (18-6), and pinned Kolby Lemmon of Kellogg (3:30); he then cruised to victory in the championship match by pinning Josh Lambertson of Eureka (2:49). In addition to winning his division, Sherrill was also named the 2023 George Wild Tournament's most outstanding wrestler.

Tyler defeated Dakota Hartt of Post Falls via technical fall (2:00, 16-0), Jonas Hartrick of Orofino via forfeit, and pinned Gage Kunsky of Bonners Ferry (0:45) leading up to the championship match. In the championship, Tyler faced a familiar opponent in Bass Myers of Clearwater Valley, an opponent he lost to last year by one point in this very same match. This time, Tyler handed Bass his first loss of the season by pin (5:31) to secure gold.

Jeremiah Palmer (195) and Gavin Walters (285) also took home crucial third place finishes for the Bulldogs.

For Priest River, Caedan McLaimtaig (152) took home an individual title after pinning all four of his opponents within four minutes; he remains undefeated at 11-0 on the season. Colm McLaimtaig (138) also took home third place for the Spartans who finished eighth out of 18 teams.

Sandpoint duals Timberlake on Wednesday. Priest River, along with Sandpoint, will head to the Tri-State Invitational held Dec. 15-16 at North Idaho College.
