| February 22, 2023 1:00 AM

Cassie (North) Ren, age 58, passed away Jan. 8, 2023, in Sagle, Idaho, due to a tragic accident. She was followed in death by loving husband Patrick Loren Reno, age 60, of Sagle, Idaho, on Jan. 11, 2023.

Pat was born in Oxnard, Calif., on Jan. 3, 1963. Cassie was born in Kirkland, Wash., on December 20, 1964. Pat’s family moved to North Idaho in 1968. Pat and Cassie both attended Sandpoint High School, where they met and dated for a period of time. Pat entered the Army in 1982 after completing a degree in auto body repair at North Idaho College and served at Fort Benning, Ga., and Berlin, Germany.

Upon completion of his military service, Pat returned to North Idaho, where he reconnected with Cassie, and they were married Feb. 27, 1988. Pat and Cassie were loving parents and grandparents and looked forward to the time they could spend with their children and grandchildren.

Cassie spent much of her time making her home a warm and loving place. She was also an animal lover who considered her dogs to be part of the family, as well as an avid birdwatcher with feeders throughout the property. Cassie was a talented artist who loved to sketch wildlife.

Pat loved everything about the outdoors and all that North Idaho had to offer. He enjoyed backpacking, hunting, fishing and camping with his children and grandchildren. He was an accomplished artist who spent most of his free time with Cassie creating amazing artwork out of metal and antlers. He was a dedicated husband, father, brother, and a fierce friend who put family and friendship above everything. Day or night, Pat was always there whenever a friend or family member was in need.

Pat went back to school after his marriage to Cassie and became a millwright, working at several mills in the Priest River area until the time of his passing. He thoroughly enjoyed his work and the people he worked with. Pat’s quick wit, dedication to his family and friends, and propensity to find the good in any situation will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

Pat and Cassie are survived by their children, Nels (Kelli), Mallory, and Christopher (Amy); Cassie’s brothers and sisters, Shannon (Justin), Bart, Scott (Gay), Corrie, Penny (Jeff), Marnie (Mike), Ted (Janna) and Lora (Joe); Pat’s mother, Marilyn Parker; and his brothers and sisters, Michael (Melonie) Reno, Missy (Pat) Smahlik, Mary, (Todd) Douglas; grandchildren, Seth, Westin, Bentley, Calleigh, and Connor; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held at the Priest River Event Center on March 4 at 2 p.m. Condolences, flowers, cards or donations can be sent to the family at 824 East Hastings Road Unit C3, Spokane WA 99218.
