The Bulldogs started the first quarter strong in Tuesday's game against Lewiston, scoring 19 points to Bengal's three. This trend continued for the rest of the game and Sandpoint won 54-26.

“We didn't shoot the ball particularly well, but our defense gave us a lot of opportunities,” head coach Will Love said.

While Tuesday night's game won't count toward the league standings, but the Bulldogs are currently 1-2 in league. Sandpoint will travel to play Lake City on Thursday which is their last league game against the 5A’s. This will be a tough matchup for the Bulldogs with Lake City being regarded as one of the best teams in the state, Love said.

“We were able to compete with them for three quarters in our first matchup,” Love said, “So we want to compete for a full 32 minutes.”

Their first 4A game will be the following day, Friday, against Lakeland. Love noted that the game will be a big matchup especially since the team doesn’t typically have back-to-back league games.

“We need to be ready to play a tough Lakeland team on Friday night,” Love said.

Sandpoint forced 25 turnovers and held Lewiston to 20 percent shooting.

“We don't often sweep the 5A schools,” Love said. “I'm really proud of the girls for accomplishing that.”

Daylee Driggs led the Bulldogs in scoring with 18 points and was extremely efficient offensively, finishing 8 of 13 from the field.

“She caused Lewiston all kinds of problems on the defensive end and that helped spur her offensively,” Love said.

Aliya Strock also helped out Sandpoint scoring 16 points.

“A strength of this team is that we have four players averaging double-digits,” Love said. “Any one of them can lead us in scoring on any given night.”
