Trusting the Lord when 'no' is the answer

| July 6, 2023 1:00 AM

You know, we say we want to trust the Lord to guide us in our lives, but when we get a roadblock, we say, "That cannot be the Lord!" ("That's not what I want.")

And we forget that He says in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with your whole heart, rely not on your own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He will direct your steps."

We, as believers, must recognize that He is the one directing our steps, relying not on our understanding alone, and accept His guidance even when it doesn't line up with our own will. That's what we do with our children when we say no.

This letter is really directed to the Bonner County commissioners.

I ask the county commissioners to please let go of the "fight", and consider that, in spite of any good intentions they may have, the Lord may actually be saying, "no."

And whatever your position on this fairgrounds matter, I believe that all parties involved should consider taking a step back, not for their own sakes, but for the sake of our county and all its good citizens, and allow healing and reconciliation to take place.

We love our elected officials, including our sheriff and our county commissioners, and we want to see them work together. We want the strife to end.

Let's try, instead, trusting the Lord to guide our steps, even when He says "no."
