If you’re looking to beat the heat, come and enjoy the air conditioning at the library next week! We have loads of programs coming up that you won’t want to miss.

Stop by the Sandpoint Library on Tuesday, July 11, at 5:30 p.m. for a magic show with Cecil the Magician! This is a fun, interactive and free experience. There is no registration required, but try to show up early for a good seat.

On Wednesday, July 12, at 10:30 a.m., we will be having art in the library garden with plein air painting — leave the walls of your home or studio behind and feel the creativity flow through you in the open air.

Looking for some more edible art? At 3:30 p.m., teens are welcome to come in for Teen Cupcake Wars as the library challenges teens to design a cupcake based on their favorite book or movie. Registration is required, as supplies are limited.

Stop by the Clark Fork Library on July 13 at 2 p.m. to learn how to make a variety of friendship bracelets as part of the library’s Summer Reading celebration. This is a great opportunity to enjoy an afternoon drive along one of the most scenic stretches of highway in the entire North American continent and learn some new skills in the process.

On Friday, July 14, I’ll be visiting the WaterLife Discovery Center on Lakeshore Drive at from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with microscopes, sample collection kits, binoculars and more so that you can check out local wildlife and microbes that share a space with the center’s fish. These scopes are large enough to view larger cells found in the water, including many that actively move around during observation!

We hope to see you soon.
