COEUR d’ALENE — The Clark Fork volleyball team defeated Kootenai, 3-0 (25-11, 25-4, 25-15) to win the District 2 1A North Star League title Thursday held at North Idaho College.

Lilly Reuter, Eloise Shelton, and Amie Matteson led the Wampus Cats to victory on Thursday. Shelton had a team-high nine kills, Reuter a team-high 20 assists, and Matteson, a team-high 11 aces.

“Amie went on a service run in the second set that was fun to see,” head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey said. “She’s been working hard on her serve the past couple of weeks and it shows.”

Kiebert-Carey said she is proud to be a part of such a great program that works hard day in and day out.

“It says a lot about our program that this is our seventh straight district championship,” Kiebert-Carey said. “While it’s true that small schools experience booms and busts in athlete numbers and talent, our volleyball program has remained consistent because our players, their families, and our community as a whole has supported our off-season efforts each spring. It’s hard to overstate just how much work we put into volleyball around here. I’m really proud to be a part of it.”

Clark Fork (8-9) will face Rockland in a state championship play-in match Saturday at Fruitland High School at 12:00 p.m. (MST)

Cross Country

LEWSITON — Clark Fork’s Westin Caven finished in second-place out of 47 runners at the District 1-2 1A cross country championships held at Lewis-Clark State College on Thursday.
