Sandpoint 3, Moscow 0

SANDPOINT — Strong defense led Sandpoint volleyball over Moscow, 3-0 (28-26, 25-17, 25-17) on Tuesday night at Les Rogers Court. It was the Bulldogs’ first win over Moscow since 2020.

“We played with a calm confidence tonight, even when the match was close in the first set,” head coach Piper Wahlin said. “I was really impressed with our overall composure and with the play of sophomore Belen Gonzales. She stepped into a big role tonight and contributed four kills, one block, and was tough on the service line.”

In addition to Gonzales’ great performance, seniors Haley Swaim and Taylor Payne also were key in Sandpoint’s sweep of Moscow. Payne had six kills and a big block that Moscow had to work around. Swaim, who plays at the setter position, was everywhere on defense, and even added a few kills of her own.

The Sandpoint volleyball team (6-4, 2-1) visits Coeur d’Alene today.

WALLACE — The Clark Fork volleyball team was swept by Wallace, 3-0 (9-25, 9-25, 22-25) at Wallace High School on Tuesday.

On the offensive end, Eloise Shelton and Aurora Lane both had four aces for Clark Fork. Lilly Reuter and Piper Scarlett had seven and 11 assists, respectively. On defense, Shelton had a team-high 17 digs for the Wampus Cats on the night.

“As the scores show, it took us a while to get going, but once we were able to, we played right with them,” head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey said. “We’ll be looking to come out with more energy Thursday and get back to how we know we can play.”

Clark Fork (4-2) will host Mullan today for their first conference game of the season.
