Ponderay Rotary nears scholarship drive goal

| April 3, 2024 1:00 AM

The community is invited to join the community in its mission to help local youth.

Ponderay Rotary is nearing the finish line of its 2024 scholarship drive and we need the community's help. Our target is $16,000 by April 15, and the club halfway there, with just $7,450 left to raise.

"Your support in reaching this goal is invaluable to us," Kari Saccomanno said of the club's scholarship drive. "Every donation, regardless of size, makes a significant impact. Our community boasts exceptional students who are actively shaping a better world, and we take immense pride in their accomplishments. They understand the importance of giving back to the community that nurtures and supports them. However, we still have ground to cover to meet our $16,000 goal."

Saccomanno said the club's aim is to allocate more than $35,000 to local students for the upcoming 2024-25 academic year, including graduating high school seniors, those pursuing post-secondary education, and local residents aspiring to further studies.

Applicants are welcome from a variety of educational paths, including colleges, trade schools, non-profit institutions, certifications, licenses, and more. Applications are open until April 10. Go to PonderayRotaryClub.com to learn more.

Saccomanno said assisting the club in its scholarship drive include Ting, Avista, 219, Kochava, Carpet One, In and Out Painting, Temanos, Pend Oreille Veterinary Service, Diane Brockway, Cheryl Stewart, and Matt Kerr.

"Help us empower our local students and enrich our community by backing Ponderay Rotary," she added. "Your donation can serve as an inspiration, influence, and encouragement to the budding leaders, innovators, and dreamers of our community. Your support will play a crucial role in ensuring the flourishing future of our community."
