Schoening, Laiche shine at Cat-Griz game Sandpoint Fans Tru and Jordyn Tomco pose with former Bulldog role models Madi Schoening, left, and Amber Laiche, right, during the annual Cat-Griz women’s basketball game on Saturday in Missoula. Schoening had her best game of the season to lead Montana to a 87-63 win over Montana State in the rivalry game, and Laiche has emerged as one of the top dancers on the Griz dance team, as the team nailed a strong performance at halftime. Schoening went off for 18 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, and was 8 of 8 from the line in her best performance of the season for the Griz, who are now 9-7 in Big Sky play. “It was quite a performance on her part. She’s one of those kids who is so quick to the ball. If there is a loose ball, she’s going to go get it,” said Griz head coach Shannon Schweyen of Schoening. “There have been a lot of Lady Griz who play hard, but she’s got to be near the top as far as laying it all out there.” (Courtesy photo)
